摘要：史学史的研究不仅是对既有研究成果的盘点，更是透过评述学人、学派的特色与贡献，产生鉴往知来的独特价值。《马新史学研究的发展与嬗变(1800-1969)》针对1800~1969年中、英文两种语言源流的文史地学术发展脉络进行梳理，厘清两者的流变并进行比较研究，以见其异同及交汇之所在。可谓补实了英语源流之马新史学发展梗概，增益我们对东南亚史、华侨华人和马新学术社群的了解。

Influence and Confluence: Book Review of Historiographic Study of Malaysia and Singapore, 1800 -1969: Development and Change

Abstract: The historiography is not only an inventory of existingresearch literatures, but also “learning from the past and knowing the future” by commenting on the characteristics and contributions of scholars and schools. This book systematically reviews the development of historiography in Malaysia and Singapore ( both Chinese and English origins)from 1800 to 1969. Author conducts comparative studies to see their similarities, differences and intersections. It helpful to understanding of Southeast Asian history, Overseas Chinese Studies, and academic community in Malaysian and Singaporean.
